Stone In Progress - Envisions

With the most diverse types of sidewalks, from red to gray tones, from square to rectangular shapes, it was time for the municipality of Eindhoven to approach Envisions to think about the sidewalks of the city for the next 40 years.

Envisionaries Iwan Pol, Simone Post, Tijs Gilde and Tomas Dirrix were invited to dive into the production process of concrete bricks by visiting a number of Dutch concrete manufacturers. With the knowledge gained, the designers explored the boundaries of what a street tile could look like.

While taking into account the briefing from the municipality, the designers maintained the experimental way of working by developing an impressive collection of unique samples that tried to challenge the municipality of Eindhoven to imagine the future sidewalks of the city in an innovative way.
